    Construction Update: April 2, 2025

    In the past month, the main level and balcony level steel has been erected—including the window arches and framing! Foundation and basement wall waterproofing has also been completed and much of the decking has been installed on the main level. Behind the scenes, new boilers have been delivered and production of the oculus has commenced.

    In the coming month, steel work will continue. Additional grading will take place and masonry on the foundation walls will also begin.

    Construction Update: March 1, 2025

    Since our last update, crews have poured a lot of concrete! Footers, basement walls, and slabs on grade are now in place, and the octagonal form of the building is visible. Mechanical tunnels to the existing building have been laid and interior demolition is nearing completion.
      
    In the coming month, our contractor Holder Construction will begin erecting steel to frame the chapel. Next week, a mobile crane will arrive on site. The crane will remain parked for several months; it will be raised at the beginning of each workday and lowered each evening.

    Construction Update: February 3, 2025

    Since our last monthly update, crews have continued to clear and grade the site, demo near the stairwell and cloister, and pour concrete footers and basement walls. And, the relocated Preschool playground is complete.
     
    In the coming month, our contractor Holder Construction will begin pouring slabs on grade, waterproofing the basement walls, and erecting steel to frame the chapel. A mobile crane will be placed on site soon too.
     
    A word on safety—we have noticed neighbors walking up the Andrews Driveway during construction. On weekdays, the driveway is considered an active construction site and not safe for pedestrians. Please utilize the stone path behind the Lanier House to access Andrews Drive during the week. Thank you!

    Construction Update: January 6, 2025

    Crews have worked to clear and grade the site, demo near the stairwell and cloister, and begin pouring concrete footers. And, the relocated playground is nearing completion!

    Construction of the Good Faith Chapel is underway! Since mobilization on December 2, crews have worked to clear and grade the site, and demo the part of the existing building where the new chapel will connect.

    Greetings! Progress on the Good Faith Chapel construction is underway! 

    In the last few weeks, Georgia Power and Atlanta Gas Light relocated their lines to the Cathedral and construction crews are preparing to mobilize. And, construction of the new playground on the Peachtree side of the Preschool is underway! Here is what you can expect in the coming month:

    Groundbreaking and Witness at the Cathedral this Sunday!

    Gather with us at the future site of the Good Faith Chapel—the current Andrews Drive playground—at 10:00 a.m. this Sunday, November 10! The groundbreaking will include a grand procession around the site of the Good Faith Chapel, as well as prayer and joyful singing. We will dig at the center of the octagonal Good Faith Chapel, together marking the beginning of construction of this new space in our House of Prayer for All People. All are invited to break ground with us! We will have shovels for grown-ups, and shovels for children – along with treats for all.
