After 'The Chosen'

Greetings, The Chosen enthusiasts and guests!

Time & place: Our watch party meets at 5 p.m. Wednesdays in the Lanier House over a potluck offering of snacks and a 6 p.m. intermission, after which we conclude viewing the video and sharing discussion.

Planning: Occasionally another leader will lead discussions in addition to the Rev. Dr. Thee Smith. Note: Please plan to depart by 6:55 p.m. due to another group meeting at 7 p.m..

Planning: After viewing all of the episodes of Season 4, let’s begin using a chapter from the book below to accompany our discussions.

Media Practice and Spirituality

Renée Miller offers an entire chapter on films and movies as contexts for a spirituality of “Media Practice.” Miller’s perspectives provide a compelling point of departure for discussing all media.

With her book, Strength for the Journey: A Guide to Spiritual Practice, our ‘After The Chosen’ class may anticipate far more vistas ahead for viewing The Chosen alongside other media productions.

As best practice for strengthening our own spirituality and faith journeys, and as resource for sojourning with “skeptical friends,” we invite you to join our watch party as we continue to party-on!
